Living Snow Fence: South Pass

The South Pass Living Snow Fence Site is located on the Shoshone National Forest in Fremont County, approximately 32 miles South of Lander on Highway 28. Despite the extremely dry weather conditions these past several years, the majority of seedling trees have survived!

This living snow fence project was completed in 1998 with the assistance of the Lander Valley High School Future Farmers of America chapter under the direction of Mike McConnell. Wyoming State Forestry Division, Wyoming Department of Transportation, and the US Forest Service also partnered with PACD on the project.
